During his official visit to China, Bangladesh’s Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus met with Chinese President Xi Jinping at the People’s Great Hall in Beijing on Friday, where the two countries signed a series of agreements to enhance bilateral cooperation.

Bangladesh and China signed a total of nine agreements, including an economic and technical cooperation agreement and eight Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs). These MoUs cover a range of sectors, including the translation and production of classical works, cultural heritage exchanges, media collaboration, and cooperation in sports and health.

Abdul Kalam Azad Majumder, Deputy Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser, confirmed the developments, adding that five major announcements were made to initiate formal negotiations on new investment projects.

Notably, one of the agreements focuses on the establishment of the China Industrial Economic Zone in Bangladesh. Additionally, a commercial agreement was signed to modernize and expand the Mongla port. Other agreements include the construction of a robot physiotherapy and rehabilitation center and the donation of a cardiac surgery vehicle.

These agreements are seen as a significant step in strengthening ties between the two nations, with a focus on economic growth, cultural exchange, and health sector development.
