PV desk, Bangladesh Nationalist Party ( BNP) has announced a rally in Dhaka next Saturday demanding the unconditional release of former Prime Minister and party chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.
Similar rallies will be held in all major cities on July 1 (Monday) and in district headquarters on July 3 (Wednesday).
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announced the program during a press conference this noon at the party’s central office in Naya Paltan.
Party leaders including Mirza Abbas, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Khairul Kabir Khokon, Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie, Habib Un-Nabi Khan Sohel, and Abdus Salam Azad were present during the press conference
Mirza Fakhrul said, “Former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia has been seriously ill for a long time. Her condition has so deteriorated that she could expire at any time.”
He alleged that the Awami League government has falsely sentenced Khaleda Zia in a conspiracy similar to the assassination of Ziaur Rahman.
“Despite being eligible, she has not been granted bail, to keep her away from politics,” Fakhrul said.
Stating the party’s determination to intensify the movement for her release, he said, “All democratic political parties involved in the simultaneous movement have demanded her release.”
He called upon the people to join this movement and vowed to take it to its final stage.
The rally in Dhaka will be held on 29 July 29 at 3 pm in front of the BNP’s central office in Naya Paltan.
Subsequent rallies will be held in major cities on 1 July and in district headquarters on 3 July.
Fakhrul urged the leaders, activists, and citizens to make these programs successful.
