The government has selected eight distinguished individuals for consideration for the 2025 Independence Award, recognizing their extraordinary contributions to the nation.
This information was confirmed by government authorities on Thursday afternoon.
The nominees for the prestigious award include Major General M.A.G. Osmani, the chief commander of the Liberation War, renowned scientist Professor Jamal Nazrul Islam, BRAC founder Sir Fazle Hasan Abed, researcher, writer, and intellectual Badaruddin Umar, poet Al Mahmud, one of the architects of the Central Shaheed Minar, Navera Ahmed, pop legend Azam Khan, and Abrar Fahad, a prominent student leader.
Sources from the Cabinet Division revealed that the list of nominees has been approved by Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus.
The Cabinet Division is expected to officially announce the names of the awardees soon.
