The results of the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations for 2025 have been announced, with only 68.45 percent of students passing; a sharp decline of 14.59 percentage points from last year’s results.
A total of 139,032 students obtained a GPA-5, significantly lower than 182,129 students who achieved the top grade in 2024.
Girls performed better than boys across the board. 71.03 percent of girls passed the exams, compared to 65.88 percent of boys. Additionally, 3,616 girls received GPA-5, while 65,416 boys earned the same.
Under the country’s nine general education boards, the overall pass rate stood at 68.04 percent, with 125,018 students achieving GPA-5. Students from the Science group had the highest success rate at 85.68 percent, followed by Business Studies at 66.32 percent, and Humanities** at just 53.87 percent.
The Madrasa Education Board recorded a 68.09 percent pass rate, with 9,066 students securing GPA-5. Meanwhile, students from the Technical Education Board had a higher pass rate of 73.63 percent, with 4,948 students earning GPA-5.
This year’s exams began on April 10 and concluded on May 13, with practical exams held between May 15 and 22.
In total, 19.04 lakh students participated in the SSC and equivalent exams, out of 19.28 lakh who registered—over 100,000 fewer than last year. Among the candidates, 14.79 lakh were under general education boards, 2.86 lakh under Madrasa, and 1.38 lakh under Technical boards.
