On the second day of Eid-ul-Azha, the sight of animal sacrifice could still be seen in various parts of the capital Dhaka. Many who were unable to perform the sacrifice on the first day of Eid (Saturday) due to busy schedules, pressure, or a shortage of butchers, carried out the ritual today (June 8).

In areas like Old Dhaka, Lalbagh, Tikatuli, Mugda, and Basabo, scenes of animal slaughter and meat processing were observed since morning.

A visit to the Bangshal area of Old Dhaka revealed preparations for sacrifice in front of several houses, where plastic sheets had been put up. Some had already completed their sacrifices. Nearby, a group of young men were cutting meat by the roadside while a butcher supervised and gave instructions.

A little further away, children and teenagers were seen watching the sacrifice process. Similar scenes were observed in Bou Bazar of Lalbagh, the crowded alleys of Tikatuli, and on some inner streets of Mugda and Basabo.

According to locals, many were unable to sacrifice animals on the first day due to the shortage of butchers and lack of time or preparation. Some received their cattle from the market only late on Eid night.

Others intentionally chose to avoid the crowds and opted to perform the ritual on the second day so they could take their time and work more comfortably.
