BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir’s health is showing significant improvement, according to his personal assistant, Yunus Ali. “He is expected to return home soon from the hospital,” Ali informed BSS. However, doctors have advised him to rest for a few more days.
BNP media cell member Shairul Kabir Khan also shared that Mirza Fakhrul has requested the people of the country to offer prayers for his swift recovery.
Fakhrul was hospitalized at the United Hospital in Gulshan on Sunday after falling ill. He is currently being treated under the supervision of Professor NAM Momenuzzaman, the hospital’s Chief Cardiology Consultant. His wife, Rahat Ara Begum, and younger daughter, Mirza Safaruh, are at his side.
Doctors at the hospital explained that Fakhrul had experienced a drop in sodium levels, which led to breathing difficulties due to chest congestion and a persistent cough, leaving him feeling very weak. Following medical advice, he was immediately admitted to the hospital and underwent various health tests.
BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has been in constant contact with Fakhrul’s family over the phone from London, while party leaders, including Standing Committee Member Mirza Abbas and Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed, visited Fakhrul in the hospital on Tuesday to inquire about his condition.
