BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has reaffirmed his party’s commitment to ensuring the rights and freedoms of all Bangladeshi citizens, regardless of religion, caste, or background.
Speaking as the chief guest at a plaque unveiling ceremony for the Sri Sri Shanidev Mandir at Kalibari Temple in Thakurgaon municipality, Fakhrul emphasized inclusivity and national unity.
“Every person born in this country is a citizen of Bangladesh and should not be treated as a minority. Everyone deserves full rights and freedom,” he said.
Calling for harmony and mutual respect, Fakhrul urged all communities to work together in building a “beautiful new Bangladesh.” He reflected on the history of communal friendship in the country and criticized sections of the media for allegedly fueling communal tensions through propaganda and misinformation.
The event was presided over by Satyajit Kumar Kundu and attended by prominent local Hindu community leaders including Balram Guha Thakurta, Manoranjan Singh, Chintaharan Debnath, and Subhas Chandra Mallick.
Several senior BNP leaders were also present, including district general secretary Mirza Faisal Amin, vice president Obaidullah Masud, and joint general secretary Paygam Ali.
Following the ceremony, Fakhrul visited the nearby Mother Teresa School, where he also attended a separate program.
