The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) is scheduled to meet Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus on Wednesday to press for a concrete timeline for the upcoming national elections.
According to BNP chairperson’s press wing, the meeting will take place at 12pm at the State Guest House Jamuna in Dhaka. BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and several senior leaders will be present at the talks.
Speaking to reporters earlier, Fakhrul expressed optimism about reaching a consensus with the interim government and other key stakeholders to resolve critical issues, including finalizing the election schedule.
BNP leaders have voiced concerns that the Chief Adviser’s previous remarks, suggesting an election window between December 2025 and June 2026, lack clarity. They argue this range does not constitute a specific roadmap and contributes to growing uncertainty.
During Wednesday’s discussions, the BNP plans to directly seek the interim administration’s stance on the election date, accusing the government of fostering confusion over the timeline.
