A Dhaka court has issued arrest warrants for 29 individuals, including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy, in connection with two corruption cases related to the controversial allocation of plots in the Purbachal residential project.
On Tuesday, Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Zakir Hossain Galib accepted the charge sheets submitted by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), paving the way for legal proceedings. One of the cases names 12 individuals, while the other involves 17.
The warrants were issued after the accused failed to appear in court and are currently considered fugitives.
Confirming the development, ACC Prosecution Division Assistant Director Aminul Islam said this latest action brings the total number of corruption cases involving arrest warrants against Hasina to six.
