Bangladeshi actress Sohana Saba has been taken into custody by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Detective Branch (DB) for questioning, confirmed by Talebur Rahman, the DC (Media) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police.

Earlier, actress Meher Afroz Shaon was also detained by the DB for her involvement in alleged state conspiracy charges. She was arrested from the Dhaka’s Dhanmondi area on Thursday and taken to the DB office for further questioning regarding the matter.

Rezaul Karim Malik, the Additional Commissioner of DB, confirmed that Meher Afroz Shaon was detained in connection with an alleged conspiracy against the state. She is currently being interrogated in the DB’s custody.

Sources suggest that there have been reports of deep conspiracies aimed at destabilizing the country, with a leaked intelligence report gaining widespread attention. The report claims that a meeting was held in Kolkata on January 15, 2025, to discuss plans to disrupt the law and order situation in Dhaka. During the meeting, 10 prominent members of the ruling Awami League were allegedly assigned specific roles in the scheme.

The meeting on January 15 reportedly included both in-person and virtual participants, such as former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, politician Asim Kumar Ukil, professor Apu Ukil, Ismail Hossain Chowdhury Samrat, former MP Nurunnabi Chowdhury Shaon, former Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) General Secretary Golam Rabbani, London-based N. Nazmul Alam, former BCL president Al Nahian Joy, former General Secretary Lekhak Bhattacharya, current BCL President Saddam Hossain, BCL General Secretary Sheikh Wali Asif Inan, former Hazaribagh Awami League President Torab Ali’s son, Leather Liton, Subrata Suman from the Bangladesh-India Chamber of Commerce, Rubel (Sheikh Hasina’s driver’s son and a BCL leader), ‘Alo Asbe’ group administrator, actress Shohana Saba, and Meher Afroz Shaon, actress and singer, and daughter of former MP Tahura Ali.

The investigation is ongoing, and the authorities are probing these alleged connections in the context of the conspiracy claims.
