Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus and BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman will hold a meeting in a London hotel on Friday morning.

This was confirmed by a party source following a meeting of the BNP Standing Committee held virtually on Monday night with Tarique in the chair.

According to the schedule, the chief adviser and the BNP leader will hold a formal discussion followed by a brief one-on-one conversation, the source added.

Tarique along with his family has been living in London since 12 September 2008.

Meanwhile, Yunus left Dhaka on Monday evening for London on a four-day official visit to the United Kingdom aiming to enhance bilateral relations. He is expected to meet King Charles III and hold bilateral talks with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy is likely to meet the chief adviser.

During the visit, Yunus is also expected to hold courtesy meetings with the secretaries general of the Commonwealth and the International Maritime Organization (IMO), highlighting Bangladesh’s broader international engagements.

As part of his public diplomacy efforts, he will deliver a special speech at Chatham House, the Royal Institute of International Affairs, on 11 June.

The chief adviser is expected to return home on 14 June.
