Agora, a multinational retail chain, has expanded its footprint in Chattogram with the launch of its third outlet in the city. The new superstore was officially inaugurated on Thursday morning at Safa Arcade Community Centre in city’s Dewanbazar area.
Osman Gani Monsur, director and co-owner of Safa Arcade, along with Mowallom Chowdhury, Director-in-Charge of Agora led the inauguration ceremony.
Leading executives of Agora including Chief Operating Officer Khondker Nur-E-Borhan, Head of Internal Audit and Compliance Khaled Rasul, Chief Financial Officer Rezaul Karim, Head of Human Resources Mizanur Rahman and Abdul Matin Selim, Executive Director of Safa Arcade, were among others present.
It may be noted that Agora is a joint venture between Swedish multi-financial firm Brummer & Partners and Bangladeshi conglomerate Rahimafrooz. The company pioneered the modern retail superstore concept in Bangladesh with the launch of its first outlet in 2001. In 2009, Brummer acquired a 72% stake in the business, further strengthening its position in retail sector of the country.
