Former adviser to the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs and Disaster Management of the interim government, FF Faruk-e-Azam (Bir Protik), has called for proper initiatives to prevent moral degradation of youths and to stop the rise of juvenile gangs.

He emphasized that sports organizations along with the guidance of the police administration, should take effective steps to promote sports activities.

He made this observation while speaking as the chief guest at an views exchange meeting held at the office of the Metropolitan Sports Association on Saturday last.

Vice President Mohammad Ferdous Ali Chowdhury (BPM) chaired the event.

There is a shortage of playgrounds in schools across Chattogram metropolitan area, he said. Previously, having a playground was mandatory for establishing a school but that requirement has now been abolished. As a result, schools, colleges, and universities are being approved without playgrounds—something he stressed must be stopped.

The former adviser highlighted the importance of local clubs and sports organizations in improving the quality and development of young athletes. ‘Neighborhood clubs produce players at various levels—from grassroots to national—but their contributions are often not properly recognized or valued’, he noted.

He also advised maintaining continuity in age-based competitions in football, cricket, handball, hockey and weight-category bodybuilding organized by the Chattogram Metropolitan Sports Association.

Among those present on the occasion include General Secretary FF Shahab Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury, Vice President Ibadul Hoq Lulu, Joint Secretaries Taiyebur Rahman and Niaz Mohammad Khan, along with executive committee members and other committee members including Sekandar Kabir, A.N.M. Wahid Dulal, Nowshad Alam Chowdhury, Manoranjan Saha, Mahbubul Alam Mukul, Monotosh Ghosh, Farzana Jesmin Khan, Mohammad Maruf, Rakib Mahmud, Raza Kamal, Abdul Gafur Ponty, Enamul Hasan, Shakil Abedin, Zahir Uddin, Md. Nasir, Amatul Khair Setu, Ainul Kabir Jitu, Titon Biswas, Alamgir Alam, Shah Mahfuzur Rahman Pallab, M.A. Musha Babul, Md. Ashraf Hossain Mukhtar and Md. Galib.
