World Children’s Day, Teachers’ Day Observed In Ctg

Discussion, cultural performance mark the occasion

A discussion meeting and cultural program were held at Chattogram Shilpakala Academy on the occasion of World Children’s Day and World Teachers’ Day on Thursday.

The event was jointly organized by Adiba Wadud, Executive Director of the National Cultural Academy, and Taslim Hasan, Director of Fooler Hashi Foundation.

Professor Md. Abu Taher Chowdhury, Vice President of the Bangladesh College Shikshok Samity (BACSIS) Central Executive Committee, attended it as chief guest, while Kamrul Kayes Chowdhury, Abu Taher Chowdhury, Captain Mohsin Alam, Captain Saeedul Islam Said, poet and literary figure Shawon Panth, Professor Jitendra Lal Barua, Uttam Kumar Acharya, and Kutub Uddin Bakhtiar were special guests on the occasin.

Zahidul Karim Kochi, Member Secretary of Chattogram Press Club, inaugurated the program and Osman Gani Mansur Writer and editor of The Daily Peoples View delivered the keynote speech.

Professor Dr. Sanaullah chaired the event.

The event’s central theme was underprivileged children and honoring teachers. Ten eminent teachers from Chattogram were recognized for their lifelong contributions to education.

The honorees include Md. Hamid Hossain, Principal of National Public School and College; Rotarian Fatema Zebunnesa, former Head of the Psychology Department, Chattogram Government Women’s College; Uttam Kumar Acharya; Professor Dr. Muhammad Sanaullah; Assistant Teacher Parveen Akhter; Lion Muhammad Mujibur Rahman; Jinat Ara Begum; Principal Ayesha Khatun; and Kamrul Kayes Chowdhury, among others.

“Teachers are the greatest guides in our lives. Honoring them and learning from them are the foundations of progress”, the chief guest said.

Zahidul Karim Kochi  focused on showing respect to teachers, saying it is not just a social obligation to respect teachers but a moral responsibility.

While the efforts of the National Cultural Academy and Fooler Hashi Foundation will continue,. and such initiatives persist, violence against children and teachers will decline, and teachers will once again earn the respect they deserve in society, Osman Gani Mansur observed.
