BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia exchanged Eid-ul-Fitr greetings with party leaders virtually from London on Monday night. She was joined by BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman and senior party members in an event organized at the party’s Chairperson’s office in Gulshan.
Khaleda Zia, who has been in London for medical treatment since January 8, connected via video call at 9 PM, greeting BNP’s standing committee, central committee, and affiliated organization leaders with “Eid Mubarak.” She engaged in warm conversations with them while expressing her best wishes.
Tarique Rahman also extended Eid greetings to the party members, while BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and other senior leaders, including Khondkar Mosharraf Hossain, Mirza Abbas, Nazrul Islam Khan, and Selima Rahman, were present at the gathering.
During the event, Mirza Fakhrul conveyed Eid greetings to Khaleda Zia on behalf of the party. Later, special prayers were held for her swift recovery.
This virtual exchange continues Khaleda Zia’s tradition of greeting BNP leaders during Eid, a practice she maintained at her Gulshan residence, ‘Firoza,’ since her conditional release from prison. However, this year, she celebrated Eid in London with her family.
In her Eid message, Khaleda Zia called on the people of Bangladesh to remain united in their struggle for democracy and voting rights. She emphasized that sacrifices made by the people have not been in vain and urged unity to restore citizens’ electoral rights.
Becoming emotional during the exchange, she encouraged BNP leaders and activists to maintain close ties with the people. Concluding her message, she extended heartfelt Eid greetings to the nation, saying, “Eid Mubarak,” and requested prayers for her well-being.
