Indian media allegedly part of AL’s campaign against Yunus

Shafiqul Alam, the Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser, accused the Awami League (AL) of running a “well-orchestrated campaign” against Chief Adviser Prof. Muhammad Yunus. Alam described the campaign as part of a broader attack, saying the messages being spread include false claims that 3,000 police officers have died, that Yunus is a militant leader, and that he is surrounded by militant figures.

He further accused the Indian media of being complicit in this campaign. Alam claimed that Hasina’s inner circle is spending millions of dollars to fabricate a narrative that counters the July uprising, portraying it not as a popular movement but as a vast conspiracy.

Alam made these remarks during a book launch at the Jatiya Press Club. He highlighted Dr. Yunus’ long history of public service and international acclaim, stating that efforts would be made to document these facts. He added that research would be conducted and seminars held across campuses to ensure that the “fallen autocrat and her followers” cannot make a political comeback.

BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi was the chief guest at the event.
