Disaster Management and Relief Adviser Faruk E Azam has said the government is considering involving the army, if necessary, for constructing flood protection dam.

“The government is always concerned about the flood related problems in Feni. The government has a plan for its permanent solution. So, it is considering the involvement of the army in the construction of sustainable flood protection dam,” he said.

The adviser made the remark while speaking a gathering of flood-hit people at Munshirhat Ali Azam High School in Fulgazi here today.

The adviser said that relief will be provided as long as the flood affected people stay in the shelter centers.

Besides, rice, pulses, oil, and salt will be given to every family for one week when they will return to their homes, he said.

Replying to questions from journalists, the Adviser said that geo-bags were supplied for the construction of dams. Now tube bags of better technology will be provided, he said adding that the government is sincerely working for permanent solution of the flood problem.

Urging people to remain calm the adviser said 2009 flood killed about 19 people in Feni. But, this year there was no causality. That means we are moving forward,” he noted.

.Secretary of the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief Md. Mostafizur Rahman and senior government officials were present.
