A sudden fire broke out on the gas pipeline in front of Bipolob Udyan, in the city of Chattogram. The fire is seemed to have been caused by a leak in the gas pipe, according to the Karnaphuli Gas Distribution Company Limited (KGDCL).

The company has shut off the gas supply in the surrounding areas while workers work to resolve the issue.

Mohammad Shafiul Azam Khan, the General Manager of the Engineering Services Division at KGDCL, stated, “We think the leak occurred due to excavation work by T&T. The fire was caused by this leak. We are now shutting off the gas line in the affected area. All lines will be closed, and once the faulty line is located, we will dig and repair it.”

He further mentioned that gas supply in the surrounding areas will remain suspended while the issue is being addressed. However, he could not provide an estimate of how long it would take to resolve the situation.
