Chief Adviser Orders Police to Implement Online Case Filing System

Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has instructed the police nationwide to implement an online system for filing cases.

The directive was issued during a high-level meeting at the state guest house, Jamuna, at Monday, where the current law and order situation was reviewed.

The meeting was attended by Home Adviser Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser Khuda Baksh Chowdhury, and Home Secretary Nasimul Gani.

Under the existing system, filing a First Information Report (FIR) requires a visit to the nearest police station, a process that is often time-consuming and vulnerable to misuse. To address this, Professor Yunus proposed that the police set up an online platform and a dedicated helpline, similar to the 999 emergency number, to allow people to file FIRs from anywhere in the country.

“This will ease the difficulties people face when trying to file a case,” he said, directing the national police chief, Baharul Alam, to launch a phone number for online FIR submissions as soon as possible.

The Chief Adviser also instructed the police chief to establish a call center to assist individuals who may face challenges with the online filing process.

“Those struggling to file a case online will be able to get help from the call center,” he added.
