CCC announces TK 1981.52 crore budget

Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) announced a proposed budget of Taka 1981.52 crore for the fiscal year 2024-25.

Reazaul Karim Chowdhury, Mayor of Chattogram City Corporation (CCC), declared the budget at the City Theater Institute hall on June 27, providing detailed data on the city’s past, present and future action plans.

Announcing the budget in presence of CCC ward councilors, officials and journalists, the CCC mayor said no new tax has been imposed in the budget.

The CCC budget for the previous fiscal year was Taka 1887.28 crore.

He also declared TK1661 crore revised budget for the 2023-24 fiscal years. The implementation rate of the budget is 88 percent, he added.

CCC acting chief executive officer Mohammad Asharaful Amin presided over the budget session while panel Mayor Afroza Kalam, Chief Revenue Officer Nazrul Islam, Additional Chief Accounting Officer Humayun Kabir were present on the occasion.

Speaking at the function, Reazaul Karim said the accounting department of CCC will come under full automation by 2025.

The mayor urged the holding owners and government institutions to pay taxes regularly and keep civic services and development work in motion to build an aesthetic, clean, green and livable city.

The mayor said, I have taken responsibility for the debt of 1 thousand 75 crore taka. After three years of debt repayment, now debt is Tk 440 crore.  TK 113 crores 46 lakhs for income tax and 134 crores for value added tax have been deposited in the government treasury.  Tk 18 crore 41 lakhs has been paid for the enjoyment and TK16 crore 96 lakhs for the future fund.
