The government has increased the price of cowhide by Tk 5 per square feet compared to last year, setting the rate at Tk 60-65 within Dhaka while Tk 55–60 outside Dhaka. Besides, the prices of goat (Khashi) and goat (Bakri) hides have been increased by Tk 2, fixing the rate at Tk 22–27 per square feet, while salt-applied goat hide will be sold at Tk 20–22. Workers from the Jatiyatabadi Sramik Dal staged a sit-in protest on Sunday in front of the Chattogram Port building. They were protesting the government’s plan to hand over the New Mooring Container Terminal (NCT) to a foreign company. The protest started at 10:00 AM and continued until 12:00 PM.
