Six luminaries were honored in different categories as part of year-long programs on the 40th anniversary and colorful autumn festival 1431 of Tritorongo, an acclaimed cultural organization in the port city as well as across the country.
Veteran journalist Osman Gani Mansur chaired the event at Nasirabad office premises of the organization where Additional Divisional Commissioner of Chittagong, Administrator of Chittagong Zila Parisad, MD of CWASA and Administrator of Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mohammad Anwar Pasha attended as the Chief Guest.
Bangladesh Betar, Chattogram Director Md. Mahfuzul Hoque and Principal of Enayet Bazar Women’s College, Suraiya Begum were present as guests of honor.
The honorees in various categories include Dr. Imran Bin Yunus, a renowned physician and researcher, Educationist Professor Mohammad Ali Chowdhury, Former Bangladeshi Betar chief presenter Fazal Hossain, social worker Fatema Jabunnesa, solicitor, London Farzana Karim Mary and folk singer Aftab Uddin Dickens.
Founder and secretary general of the organization, Shaon Panto delivered the address of welcome.
“ Culture is like a mirror that holds up the identity of a nation”, the Chief Guest said as he lauded the year-long programs of Tritorongo assuring his support for implementation of various steps taken by the organizaiton on the occasion of the 40th anniversary.
That the organization has been working sincerely for long 40 years deserves appreciation. Moreover, Autumn is the season of harvest or Nabanna festival when the farmers with beaming smile gather new crops , the chief guest continued as he also mentioned the autumn as the desired season of all Bangalees.
Hence, this seasonal program of Tritorongo represents Bangalee culture, he observed.
Shaon Panto, in his welcome speech, said that for 40 years from 1984 to 2024, Tritorongo has kept the cultural arena of Chittagong vibrant.
“Activities of the organization have now crossed from the country into the international arena. To commemorate this anniversary, we have undertaken series of programs throughout the year.
As part of the process, the 10th edition is honoring luminaries and Autumn Festival- 1431. We hope ,the program that started on February 10th will conclude successfully with a grand closing ceremony on February 10th, ’25”, he added.

Another organization in Chittagong also participated in the event that started from 4.pm and ended at 10.pm. .
