Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus today said that the interim government’s efforts would be futile without the necessary reforms to the state structure.

Speaking at the first meeting of the National Consensus Commission with political parties at the Foreign Service Academy, he said, “We have no chance to fail (over reforms). We don’t want to fail.”

He also noted the global support for Bangladesh’s interim government, mentioning that countries of all sizes have offered assistance.

“Once we talk to them (global leaders), they ask, ‘What do you seek? We will give all…we do not want to leave this opportunity,’ Yunus said.

The Chief Adviser referred to the reform proposals from six commissions as valuable assets, urging all political parties to collaborate in their implementation.

He also highlighted the United Nations’ support, citing the recent UN Fact-Finding report that revealed the atrocities of the ousted government.

Yunus stressed the importance of implementing reforms quickly to ensure credibility in the upcoming national elections.

The meeting was attended by BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, representatives from other political parties, and the heads of the six reform commissions.
