The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has submitted its report against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, and former Inspector General of Police Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun in a case filed over genocide committed during the July-August uprising.

The report was handed over to Chief Prosecutor Tazul Islam by the coordinator and officials of the tribunal’s investigation agency at 10:55am on Monday.

This marks the first official investigation report implicating Sheikh Hasina in the July genocide. The agency confirmed it has found evidence that Sheikh Hasina gave direct orders related to the atrocities.

On Sunday, tribunal sources had confirmed that the report would be submitted the following day against all three individuals.

On Friday, Chief Prosecutor Mohammad Tazul Islam had written in a Facebook post that the investigation agency of the ICT was expected to submit its report against Sheikh Hasina over the July genocide on Monday. He further stated that upon submission, formal charges will be filed, paving the way for the official trial proceedings against the former Prime Minister.

On 18 February, the tribunal had ordered the investigation into the genocide during the July-August uprising to be completed by 20 April. In addition to this case, Sheikh Hasina has also been accused in the International Crimes Tribunal of enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings during her 15-and-a-half-year tenure in office.
