Tarunyer Ucchash, a recitation and performing arts organisation, marked its 20th anniversary with a colourful day-long Children’s Festival 2026 at Theatre Institute Chattogram (TIC) on Friday, said a press release.
The festival featured a rich programme of recitation, music, dance, a puppet show and a magic performance, with enthusiastic participation from children and teenagers, transforming the venue into a lively cultural gathering.
Eminent flutist of the subcontinent Ustad Azizul Islam attended the opening ceremony as the chief guest while venteran journalist Osman Gani Mansur, poet Abik Osman, and Mohammad Zafar were present as special guests
Bhagyadhan Barua, president of Tarunyer Uchchhash chaired the event.
Speakers stressed that cultural activities play an indispensable role in nurturing children’s creativity and personal development. They said collaboration among families, educational institutions and cultural organisations is essential to raising a generation of compassionate, creative and patriotic citizens.
During the programme, Nagorphul, a volunteer organisation that has long worked with street children, was honoured with the Children’s Festival Award in recognition of its outstanding social contribution.
Over 100 children participated in solo and group recitations, choral performances and dance presentations throughout the festival. Participating organisations included Promiti Cultural Academy, Shrutinandan, Ghungur Dance Academy, Prapon Academy, Kabi Nazrul Academy Chattogram, Surangan Vidyapith, Uccharak Abritti Kunjo, School of Oriental Dance, Bodhon Abritti Parishad, and the host organisation, Tarunyer Ucchash.
A puppet show presented by Canvas Puppet Theatre captivated audiences in the afternoon while an evening magic performance by magician Rajbir Akash delighted both children and their parents.
The festival concluded with an Odissi and Tagore dance performance by the Odissi and Tagore Dance Movement Centre, followed by a group recitation by members of Tarunyer Ucchash.
This year’s festival was dedicated to eminent Bangladeshi artist Mustafa Monwar. The event was supported by Sinbad Group and moderated by Mousumi Dey.
The programme also featured solo recitations by dozens of young performers, including Debajit Biswas, Debolina Biswas, Projukti Das, Adrita Bardhan, Kuasha Dhar, Troyee Pantha, Tridha Pantha, Ankita Das, Shreyan Chowdhury, Kazi Aqsa Najakat, Soumen Guha, Srinanda Michelle, Md. Kazi Muntasir Uddin, Yusra Safwana, Mufliha Zahra, Upal Barnil De, Umesh Yadav De, Rajbir Das Ayush, Shrestha Sen, Wasfia Mannat, Mahamuda Nur Alvina, Suryakanta Das, Shreya Chowdhury, Ambika Chowdhury, Kazi Ansa Nuzhat, Ankita Guha, Md. Kazi Mustakim Uddin, Subhadra Gupta Adri, Priyanti Sen, Anishwar Das Srijan, Pramathesh Sen, Rittika Dutta, Afiat Islam, Roddur Talapatra Om, Projukta Nath, Brihsmita De, Siddhanta Nath, Riddhijit Chowdhury, Vidyangshi Mitra, Shrestha Chowdhury, Souptik Chowdhury, Anusmita Das, Umaiza Mehvis Icche, Abhiyan Biswas, Ruhanika Chowdhury Gunjan and Arnila Palit.
