In a bid to transform Chattogram into an ultra-modern city , raise awareness about civic amenities and build patriotic citizens, conscious residents of the port city held a meeting to build a strong social platform named “Chattogram Nagorik Moncho” on Monday, November 25.
Osman Gani Chowdhury, first managing editor of the then local daily “ Dainik Eshan”and an organizer of liberation war chaired the event while Sheikh Mozaffar Ahmed, proposer of the organization moderated it.
The meeting decided to hold an inauguration ceremony of the organization soon with Osman Gani Mansur, Secretary General of the Bangladesh Chapter of Commonwealth Journalists Association as convener and Sheikh Mozaffar Ahmed as member secretary.
Organized at Sheikh Mozaffar’s residence in Bahaddarhat area, the event was addressed among others by Kamal Uddin Ahmed, Principal Musa Shikdar, Professor Mahmud Noor, Journalist Shamshad Sattar, Nurul Absar Bhuiyan, Abu Tayab Chowdhury, Md. Sarwar Uddin, Cultural Organizer Ashok Kumar Bhattachariya, Md. Shahjahan Chowdhury Manju, Md. Rezaul Karim and Politician Arpub Nath.
