Chattogram Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Engineer Belayet Hossain has stepped up field-level supervision of the city’s development projects, personally inspecting ongoing works and key institutions even outside official working hours.
Often travelling without his regular office team, the CDA chairman has been visiting different parts of the city to assess project progress on the ground and identify issues requiring immediate attention.
As part of the initiative, he conducted field inspections on Friday, visiting several hospitals and institutions as well as the Hijra Khal drainage project near Probortak Mor.
During the inspection, Hossain visited National Hospital, Max Hospital, Metro Diagnostic Centre and Swapno Super Shop, reviewing their operations, parking arrangements and measures to manage traffic congestion around the facilities.
Hospital authorities briefed the CDA chairman on steps being taken to ease traffic pressure, including dedicated arrangements for motorcycles, expansion of parking facilities and efforts to improve the skills and performance of security personnel responsible for traffic management.
The authorities also informed him that arrangements were being considered to provide security personnel with specialised training both domestically and abroad to improve traffic control and parking management.
Hossain directed the hospital authorities to make parking arrangements more efficient, keep entry and exit routes clear and strengthen the capacity of security personnel deployed for traffic management.
He later inspected the progress of the waterlogging mitigation project at Hijra Khal near Probortak Mor.
With the monsoon nearing its end, the CDA chairman examined the technical aspects of the project site ahead of the commencement of the remaining works. He discussed the scope of the unfinished work, implementation procedures and necessary technical measures with project officials.
The inspections underline the CDA’s push for closer field-level monitoring of development works, particularly projects aimed at tackling two of Chattogram’s persistent urban problems—traffic congestion and waterlogging.
The CDA chairman is continuing such on-site inspections beyond regular office hours to monitor progress, address implementation challenges and ensure the quality and effectiveness of ongoing development initiatives.
