Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus has ordered the relevant authorities to complete all the necessary preparations by December for ensuring law and order across the country during the upcoming general elections.
At least eight lakh security personnel will be deployed for conducting the polls, and they have to complete training no later than December, it has been decided.
Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam announced the decisions at a press briefing held at the Foreign Service Academy on Wednesday night on the progress achieved for holding the next polls.
The Army would serve as a “striking force” to ensure security during the elections, Shafiqul said.
The chief adviser has also ordered law enforcers to adopt a “strict approach” in the coming months.
Policymakers are also discussing keeping separate booths for voters aged between 18 and 32 years during the election, the press secretary noted.
