Mohammad Nuruzzaman’s film ‘Mastul’ has been officially nominated in the Best Humanitarian Film category at the prestigious Imagine India International Film Festival, set to be held in Madrid, Spain from September 1 to 16.

The nomination, confirmed through the festival’s official website, places ‘Mastul’ in the running for the “Life Award,” which recognizes films that highlight humanitarian themes and social impact.

Following its international premiere at the 47th Moscow International Film Festival—where it received a Special Mention—’Mastul’ has been steadily gaining global attention. Building on this momentum, the film is now gearing up for its screening at the 24th edition of Imagine India.

The film offers a poignant portrayal of the lives of sailors who spend their days on the water, exploring their challenges and experiences with depth and realism. The cast features prominent Bangladeshi actors including Fazlur Rahman Babu, Deepak Suman, Aminur Rahman Mukul, Arif Hasan, Sikdar Mukit, and Sifat Bannya.

Digital distribution and promotional efforts are being managed by TongGhor Talkies. Director Nuruzzaman has received an official invitation to attend the Madrid event and expressed optimism about joining the festival, pending final travel arrangements.

Regarding local release plans, the director mentioned his intention to screen ‘Mastul’ in Bangladesh ahead of its international showcase in Spain, with details currently under discussion.
