Catholic Church in Bangladesh will host a high-profile interfaith dialogue this September, bringing together religious leaders from across the spectrum to promote understanding and cooperation.
The announcement was made by Cardinal George Jacob Koovakad, the Vatican’s Prefect of the Dicastery for Interreligious Dialogue, during a meeting with Bangladesh’s Chief Adviser, Professor Muhammad Yunus, in Rome on Saturday.
Cardinal Koovakad, who hails from Kerala, India, emphasized the significance of fostering dialogue between faith communities and shared details of the upcoming event, which aims to strengthen interreligious ties in Bangladesh.
Chief Adviser Yunus welcomed the initiative, underlining Bangladesh’s longstanding commitment to religious harmony. He noted that the country’s Interim Government is dedicated to upholding the rights of all citizens, regardless of faith, ethnicity, or gender.
Also present at the meeting were Lamiya Morshed, the government’s SDG Coordinator; Tareq Ariful Islam, Bangladesh’s Ambassador to the Vatican; and Rokebul Haque, Ambassador to Italy.
