Bangladesh has moved up four spots to 93rd place in the latest Henley Passport Index 2025, ranking among 99 countries. However, the number of visa-free destinations for Bangladeshi passport holders has decreased, dropping from 42 in 2024 to 39 this year, indicating a decline in global travel privileges.
Despite the rise in ranking from 97th last year, Bangladesh’s passport remains one of the weakest globally. Nepal and Pakistan are ranked closely behind, at 94th and 96th, respectively.
At the top of the index, Singapore holds the number one position, with its passport holders enjoying visa-free access to 193 destinations. Japan and South Korea follow with 190 destinations, while several European countries, including Germany, France, and Spain, are tied for third place with 189 destinations.
At the bottom of the rankings, Afghanistan has the weakest passport, offering access to only 25 countries without a visa.
Among South Asian countries, the Maldives holds the strongest passport in the region, ranked 52nd with access to 93 destinations. India ranks 80th with 56 visa-free destinations, followed by Bhutan at 83rd (51 destinations), Myanmar at 88th (45 destinations), and Sri Lanka at 91st (42 destinations).
Nepal and Pakistan remain among the lowest-ranked, with visa-free access to just 38 and 32 countries, respectively.
The Henley Passport Index, compiled by UK-based Henley & Partners, ranks 199 passports based on the number of destinations their holders can visit without a prior visa, covering 227 global travel destinations.
