Anti-quota protesters blocked the Shahbagh intersection again on Friday, demanding the cancellation of the government job quota system and reinstatement of a 2018 circular. Although anti-quota protesters announced countrywide rallies on campuses in response to yesterday’s police action on students in several locations outside Dhaka, students of Dhaka University and Dhaka College blocked Shahbagh intersection around 5:20 pm. A Rohingya madrasa teacher was slaughtered by unidentified miscreants in Ukhiya Rohingya camp in Cox’s Bazar early this morning. The deceased, Noor Mohammad, 30, of D block of Rohingya Camp 4 extension in Ukhiya, was a teacher at a madrasa in the camp, police said. The killing took place in the hilly area of Rohingya Camp 4 extension around 5:00am, police source said. PTI : A stampede at a religious congregation killed 116 people on Tuesday as devotees suffocated to their deaths and bodies piled atop each other in the worst such tragedy in recent years. The stampede took place as people headed home after a ‘satsang’ in the Phulrai of Uttar Prodesh of India conducted by a preacher called Bhole Baba.
