Government employees continued their protests for the fourth straight day on Tuesday, demanding the repeal of the Public Service (Amendment) Ordinance-2025, bringing administrative activities at the Secretariat to a halt as visitors were barred from entering. Chattogram has 8.6 lakh (860,000) animals ready for sacrifice during Eid-ul-Azha this year. But the demand is slightly higher — about 8.96 lakh (896,000) animals — which means there could be a shortage of around 36,000 animals. The government has increased the price of cowhide by Tk 5 per square feet compared to last year, setting the rate at Tk 60-65 within Dhaka while Tk 55–60 outside Dhaka. Workers from the Jatiyatabadi Sramik Dal staged a sit-in protest on Sunday in front of the Chattogram Port building. They were protesting the government’s plan to hand over the New Mooring Container Terminal (NCT) to a foreign company. The protest started at 10:00 AM and continued until 12:00 PM.
