Shah Amanat airport enforces mandatory mask rule, screens passengers amid global Covid surge
Authorities at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram have made face masks mandatory in response to a fresh rise in Covid-19 cases globally. The decision was announced in a press release issued by airport officials on Sunday night. As part of precautionary measures, health screening equipment have been installed at immigration counters. Passengers are also being checked for fever using thermal scanners. The statement added that masks and gloves have been stocked for use by on-duty health workers.

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has banned all forms of meetings, rallies, processions and marches at and around the Bangladesh Secretariat and chief adviser’s official residence Jamuna in the capital. The ban would come into force on Monday and remain in effect until further notice, said a DMP notification issued Sunday night. DMP Commissioner Sheikh Sazzaj Ali signed on the notification. Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) successfully removed around 10,000 tons of sacrificial animal waste from the city between morning and evening on Eid-ul-Azha, according to Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain. Speaking Saturday evening, the mayor stated that the cleanup operation had met its targeted timeline. “By 6 PM, approximately 10,000 tons of waste had been removed.
