Advance bus and train tickets for Eid-ul-Fitr travel will be available for purchase beginning March 14, with the holiday expected to fall on April 1, depending on the moon sighting. This decision was made by the Bangladesh Bus-Truck Owners’ Association during a preparatory meeting aimed at ensuring smoother travel for homebound passengers during the holiday.
Bus tickets for the seven days leading up to Eid will be sold in advance, starting from March 14. Passengers will be able to buy tickets both online and at the counters of bus services across the country.
Shubhankar Ghosh Rakesh, General Secretary of the association, urged bus operators to adhere to government-mandated fares and not charge passengers additional fees. He also announced that monitoring teams will be deployed at bus counters in Dhaka and throughout the country to prevent any illegal activities. To enhance security, video footage of night coaches will also be recorded.
Additionally, the Bangladesh Railway has announced that advance train tickets will be available for purchase from March 14 to March 20. Passengers can buy tickets for travel on March 24 and March 30.
