The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has banned all forms of meetings, rallies, processions and marches at and around the Bangladesh Secretariat and chief adviser’s official residence Jamuna in the capital.
The ban would come into force on Monday and remain in effect until further notice, said a DMP notification issued Sunday night. DMP Commissioner Sheikh Sazzaj Ali signed on the notification.
The ban is intended to ensure public order and the safety of Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus, the notification said.
Along with the Secretariat and Jamuna, the ban would also cover nearby areas including the Hotel InterContinental intersection, Kakrail Mosque intersection, Officers’ Club intersection and Minto Road, the notification read.
