Police calls for upload of violent footage of July Movement

In a new initiative to gather evidence from the violent events during the July-August mass movement, the Bangladesh Police has urged citizens to upload pictures and video footage of the attacks, killings, and gunfire that took place against students and protesters. 

 

The appeal was made on Sunday, February 9, 2025, through a post on the Bangladesh Police’s verified Facebook page. The police have specifically requested digital evidence captured on personal mobile phones or cameras during the period of July 1 to August 5, 2024. The collected evidence is to be uploaded to the “Andoloner Chobi” (Images of the Movement) website (andolonerchobi.police.gov.bd).

 

The post further outlines that each person can upload a maximum of one image or video per hour and a maximum of five per day, using a mobile number for identification. Before uploading, an OTP (One-Time Password) will be sent to the mobile number of the uploader for verification purposes. Files uploaded will be accessible only through the uploader’s registered mobile number.

 

The police also confirmed that the website will be open for uploads from February 11 to February 25, 2025. The effort aims to collect critical evidence to support investigations into the violence and other criminal activities associated with the movement.
