Prime Minister’s Adviser on Education and Foreign Employment Mahadi Amin has urged the UK-based international education organisation Learning Resource Network (LRN) to work with the government to make technical education more effective, modern and aligned with labour market needs.
He made the call at a meeting with LRN representatives at the Prime Minister’s Office on Sunday evening.
Mahadi Amin said the government led by Tarique Rahman planned to undertake a comprehensive restructuring of technical education to make it more people-oriented.
As part of the proposed reforms, the government plans to transfer the management of largely ineffective technical institutions to the private sector while expanding technical education with government support, he added.
The adviser also stressed the need to enhance students’ professional skills and foreign-language proficiency to improve their employability in domestic and international labour markets.
Earlier, LRN Chief Executive Officer Dr Zuhaib Tariq, a British citizen, gave a detailed presentation on the organisation and its activities.
LRN Bangladesh Chief Shoaib Choudhury, LRN Business Development Manager Tanveer H. Romen, and LRN Operation Manager Md. Akhter Hossain were also present on the occasion..
