Prime Minister Tarique Rahman returned to Dhaka on Sunday morning after wrapping up a high-profile, five-day visit to the United States to attend the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
Accompanied by his wife, Dr. Zubaida Rahman, and a 35-member delegation, the Prime Minister arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport via Dubai on an Emirates flight. Cabinet ministers, senior government officials, and military advisers welcomed him upon arrival.

Maiden UNGA Address: On September 24, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman delivered his first address at the UN General Debate, focusing on global peace, climate change, sustainable development, and the Rohingya crisis. He also introduced his government’s strategic Three-R Strategy—Recovery, Restoration, and Reconstruction—to rebuild Bangladesh.

High-Level Diplomacy: The Prime Minister held around 30 bilateral and side meetings with world leaders, international organization heads, and senior officials. He met directly with the leaders of Türkiye, Iran, Pakistan, Croatia, Haiti, Bhutan, and Thailand, alongside representatives from Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Sweden.

Key Engagements: He met with UN Secretary-General António Guterres and World Bank President Ajay Banga, while participating in high-level summits addressing sea-level rise, climate action, and the Rohingya crisis.

Economic Outreach: To boost foreign investment, the Prime Minister attended a breakfast meeting hosted by JPMorgan Chase with Wall Street representatives, boldly declaring that Bangladesh is “open for business.”
