A student of the University of Chittagong (CU), Labiba Lamia, was found dead at her home on Monday morning. She was studying in the Economics department and was a student of the 2022–23 session. She also followed the student group Jatiotabdi Chhatra Dal.

The incident happened around 9:30 AM at a rented house near the CU Laboratory School, where she lived with her parents.

According to her family, the housemaid found her hanging by the window while cleaning. The maid said, “Her feet were on the floor. I still don’t understand how she died. If it was suicide, she would be fully hanging.”

Her parents quickly brought her down. CU Assistant Proctor Nurul Hamid said, “We went there after hearing the news. The body was already down. Later, police took it for post-mortem.”

Her friends and classmates are very sad and shocked. Some are also asking if it was really suicide or something else.
