Social and cultural organisation Tritorongo will organise a humanitarian programme marking the holy month of Ramadan and the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr at city’s Nasirabad office on March 17.
Dr. Mohammad Zia Uddin, Divisional Commissioner of Chattogram, is expected to attend the programme as the chief guest while special guests include Mohammad Zahidul Islam Miah, Deputy Commissioner of Chattogram; poet Anwar Pasha, Joint Secretary of the Government of Bangladesh and Managing Director of Bangladesh Shipping Corporation as well as chief patron of Tritorongo; Ekushey Padak-winning classical flautist Ustad Azizul Islam; Engineer Mohammad Kamal Uddin Ahmed, Chief Engineer of Bangladesh Power Development Board in Chattogram; Zahidul Karim Kochi, President of Chattogram Press Club; Professor Dr. Imran Bin Yunus, specialist physician and founding general secretary of Chattogram Kidney Foundation; and Dr. Anwara Alam, writer and educationist.
Eid clothes distribution among underprivileged children, giving rickshaw vans to disabled and economically distressed individuals to support their livelihoods, and financial assistance for the marriage of poor girls will feature the event.
According to the organisers, the initiative aims to bring the joy of Eid to disadvantaged children while encouraging social solidarity during the holy month of Ramadan.
Chairman of Tritorongo Osman Gani Monsur and Secretary General Shawon Pantha said the initiative seeks to spread compassion and support for the underprivileged, particularly during a time when many parts of the world are facing conflict and hardship.
They called for the presence and support of well-wishers to share the spirit of Ramadan and Eid with children from disadvantaged communities.
