The biennial general meeting, central committee election, and inauguration ceremony of noted social and cultural organisation Tritoronga were held at the Press Club’s Collegiate Hall , fifth floor in Chattogram on Saturday.
A three-member election commission led by Dr Ashraf Sharif, Vice-Chancellor of Southern University conducted the election. The other members of the commission are Dr Anwar Alam and Professor Mohammad Ali Chowdhury.
Veteran journalist and editor Osman Gani Mansur was elected Chairman, while cultural personality Shaon Pantha was Secretary General.
Other office bearers include Vice Chairpersons Elizabeth Arifa Mobasshira, Professor Fatema Zebunnesa, and Amina Rahman; Joint Secretary General Borhan Uddin; Organising Secretary Shahidul Islam Biplob; Office Secretary Farhan Khan; Cultural Secretary Manowar Hossain; Joint Cultural Secretary Sheela Chowdhury; Publicity, Publication and IT Secretary Animesh Sharma; International Affairs Secretary Munira Sultana Mili; Public Welfare Secretary Sakib Karim; Finance Secretary Shahnur Akter Shanu; and Executive Members Subarna Rahman, Ismat Ara Nilima, and Nasrin Islam.
Dr Anwara Alam administered the oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected committee.
Besides, distinguished flutist captain Ustad Azizul Islam, Bangla Academy Award-winning poet Rashed Rouf, and President of the Chattogram Press Club Jahidul Karim Kochi attended the event as guests of honour.
Speakers praised Tritoronga’s remarkable 42-year journey in promoting cultural development and social service in Bangladesh.
‘Tritoronga’s continuous cultural activities would play a vital role in presenting Bangladesh positively on the global stage and in fostering ethical values among the country’s’ youth, they observed.
