The Prof Yunus-led interim government has secured investment proposals worth Tk3,100 crore during the recently concluded four-day investment summit, which was organized at a cost of just Tk5 crore, BIDA Executive Chairman Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun told reporters on Sunday.

However, the success cannot be attributed to the summit alone as the investment proposals were results of continuing negotiations, the BIDA chief said at the Foreign Service Academy.

The government spent Tk1.45 crore for the 7-10 April summit, and partner organisations spent another Tk3.5 crore.

About 415 delegates from 50 foreign countries participated, representing 58% of the total number of investors during the summit.

On Sunday, BIDA and BEZA jointly decided to scrap the establishment of 10 economic zones.
