Bangladesh were sent into the field after Zimbabwe captain Craig Ervine won the toss and elected to bat in the second Test at the Bir Shreshtha Shaheed Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Cricket Stadium (BSSFLMRCS) on Monday.

Bangladesh made three changes to their side in a bid to bounce back from defeat in the first Test. Fast bowler Tanzim Hasan was handed a debut, becoming the country’s 107th Test cricketer. Anamul Haque returned to the Test fold after nearly three years, while off-spinner Nayeem Hasan was also recalled.

Nahid Rana missed out after leaving for the Pakistan Super League, with Mahmudul Hasan Joy and Syed Khaled Ahmed also dropping out.

Zimbabwe, aiming to seal the series, made two changes to their line-up. Wicketkeeper Nyasha Mayavo was dropped after a poor performance behind the stumps in the first Test, replaced by Tafadzwa Tsiga. All-rounder Victor Nyauchi was also left out.

Leg-spinner Vincent Masekesa was handed a Test debut, becoming Zimbabwe’s 137th Test cricketer.

Bangladesh XI: Sadman Islam, Anamul Haque, Mominul Haque, Najmul Hossain Shanto (capt), Mushfiqur Rahim, Jaker Ali, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Tanzim Hasan, Taijul Islam, Nayeem Hasan, Hasan Mahmud.

Zimbabwe XI: Craig Ervine (capt), Brian Bennett, Ben Curran, Wesley Madhevere, Wellington Masakadza, Vincent Masekesa, Blessing Muzarabani, Richard Ngarava, Tafadzwa Tsiga, Nicholas Welch, Sean Williams.
