Qualified teachers key to building a skilled workforce

NU Pro-VC calls for empowering educators to prepare future national leaders

“Skilled and qualified teachers are the prerequisite for creating a competent human resource.” Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the National University Professor Md Lutfar Rahman, said this during a visit to the National Teachers’ Training College in Bahaddarhat on Monday.

Speaking at a views-exchange meeting with the institution’s teachers, the Pro-VC noted, “Today’s generation will lead the nation in the future. Therefore, it is the responsibility of the teaching community to prepare them with the highest level of competence.”

Secretary General of the Commonwealth Journalists Association (Bangladesh Chapter) Osman Gani Mansur, Chairman of Chattogram Education and Research Foundation, and Editor-Publisher of People’s View presided over the event.

Nazim Uddin Ahmed Shishim, Director (Regional Centre Coordination Office) of the National University; Md Abdul Malek, Regional Director; Advocate Alomgir Md Yunus, President of the Ad-hoc Committee; Professor Dr Mohammad Helal Uddin, Director of the Trustee Board; Professor Dr Ayesha Afrin; cardiologist Professor Dr G. M. Golam Rasool Atik; Mohammad Anowar Siddique Chowdhury; Rezaul Karim Kayser; Acting Principal Mahbub Morshed Chowdhury; Principal Md Hamid Hossain; Vice-Principal A.M. Shahidul Alam; Mohammad Gias Uddin; and other faculty members spoke on the occasion.

Earlier, the Board of Trustees, teachers, and students welcomed the Pro-VC warmly who inspected the college’s infrastructure and recommended further improvements to enhance academic environment.

The management also assured him that development work would be undertaken as soon as possible.
