Chairman of the Bangladesh Press Council, Justice A.K.M. Abdul Hakim, has said that although laws are in place, the main issue lies in their implementation. Proper initiative and honesty are essential if we want to overcome existing challenges.

On Saturday morning, he attended a views-exchange meeting with newspaper editors at the conference room of Dainik Purbokone Mohammad Yusuf Chowdhury conference hall. .

During the meeting, he discussed various issues related to journalism and journalists. The Press Council Chairman emphasized that despite many obstacles, the media must advance with a commitment to honesty and responsibility.

Among those present were: M. A Malek, editor of Dainik Azadi, Dr. M.Ramizuddin Chowdhury, editor of Dainik Purbokone ,Rusho Mahmud  editor of Dainik Suprrobat Bangladesh. Afsar Uddin Chowdhury, editor of Dainik Karnaphuli,Osman Gani Mansur , editor of The Daily People’s View, Syed Omar Faruk, editor of Dainik Bir Chattogram Moncho.

During the discussion, participants raised different concerns faced by journalists. The Chairman of the Press Council listened attentively and assured that steps would be taken to address the problems.

Press Council Secretary Md. Abdus Sabur and Additional Assistant Md. Arifur Rahman were also present at the event.

Later, at 10 a.m., the Press Council Chairman visited the office of Dainik Purbokone and toured various departments of the newspaper.
