The Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent exams for the year 2025 will begin tomorrow, Thursday, June 26. The written exams will start at 10:00 AM with the Bangla First Paper and continue until August 10. Practical exams will be held after that.
In Chattogram, a total of 1,02,869 students from 307 colleges will take part in the exams.
According to the education board, there are 71,523 examinees in Chattogram district, including the city. Among them, 31,839 are boys and 39,684 are girls. In the city alone, the number of candidates is 35,584. Cox’s Bazar has 12,005 candidates — 4,722 boys and 7,284 girls. In Rangamati, 5,554 students will sit for the exams, with 2,416 boys and 3,138 girls. Khagrachari will see 7,082 candidates, and in Bandarban, the number is 3,871. Altogether, the exams will be held in 115 centers across these areas.
To ensure a fair and smooth exam, the education board has taken strict measures. All coaching centers will remain closed until August 15. Security will be increased to stop rumors of question leaks and to create a calm environment for students.
The board has issued important instructions for all examinees. Students must arrive at the exam center at least 30 minutes early. They must fill out OMR sheets properly and not fold their answer scripts. Only general scientific calculators are allowed. There will be no breaks between the MCQ and creative sections. Mobile phones are strictly banned inside exam centers. Students must pass each section, theory, MCQ, and practical separately. They are only allowed to attend exams for the subjects listed on their admit cards. This year, students will not sit for exams in their own colleges as seat plans have been rearranged. Signing the attendance sheet is mandatory in every part of the exam.
To keep exam centers secure, the authorities will control crowds around the centers and raise awareness through loudspeakers. CCTV cameras will be installed, and posters against cheating will be put up. Only analog clocks will be allowed inside the centers. The local electricity offices have also been instructed to be ready in case of power cuts during rainy weather.
The Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) has imposed Section 144 around all exam centers in the city. This law will be in effect within 200 yards of each center during the exam period. The rule prohibits carrying weapons, organizing gatherings, using loud sound systems, or entering the centers without permission. CMP said this order will be enforced one hour before and one hour after each exam. Legal action will be taken against anyone who breaks these rules.
Everyone, students, parents, and others involved has been asked to follow the rules to ensure a safe and peaceful exam environment.
