The Chittagong Social Business Center Ltd. has announced a series of programs aimed at promoting social business, encouraging entrepreneurship, and building a poverty-free nation.
The decisions were made at a board meeting held on Wednesday evening at the Daily Azadi office, chaired by the Center’s Chairman and Editor of Daily Azadi, Alhaj M.A. Malek.
The meeting emphasized public engagement with the vision of Nobel Laureate Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus to create a “Three Zero World” — zero poverty, zero unemployment, and zero net carbon emission. To this end, several sub-committees were formed to implement key initiatives, including organizing seminars, publishing regular journals, and strengthening the Center’s digital presence through a website and social media platforms.
Board members also reviewed the Center’s participation in Social Business Day 2025, held in Savar on June 27–28, which marked Professor Yunus’s birthday. The international event saw participation from delegates across the globe. Members discussed the experience gained and outlined future action plans for expanding social business in the region.
Among those present at the meeting were veteran journalist Osman Mansur, Ln. Md Mostaque Hossain, Abida Sultana, Dr. Mohammed Kamal Uddin, Emran Chowdhury, Yasin Mabud, Advocate Zia Habib Ahasan, and Company Secretary Sujon Sayed.
The meeting concluded with prayers for swift recovery of Managing Director Amir Humayun Mahmud Chowdhury, who is currently in ill health.
Founded in 2014, the Chittagong Social Business Center was intended to promote and expand the concept of social business in Chittagong. The Center was launched under the initiative of Yunus Shuridh in presence of Professor Yunus himself, at his birthplace Chittagong.
