Navy chief visits NCT

Bangladesh Navy Chief Admiral M Nazmul Hassan visited the New Mooring Container Terminal (NCT) of Chattogram Port on Wednesday, days after Chattogram Dry Dock Limited (CDDL) officially took over its operations.

During the visit, Admiral Hassan inspected key operational areas, including container handling at NCT-2 jetty, container examination at the appraisement point, and the terminal’s operational control system at the CTMS building.

He expressed hope that the CDDL’s management would enhance discipline, punctuality, and efficiency in port activities, thereby accelerating overall operations at the country’s busiest seaport.

The Navy Chief also provided strategic guidance to CDDL personnel and port officials to ensure smooth and effective port management. He was accompanied by the Commander of the Chattogram Naval Area, Chairman of Chattogram Port Authority, Managing Director of CDDL, and other high-ranking military and civilian officials.

On July 7, the Chattogram Port Authority officially handed over operational responsibility for the NCT to CDDL.

Port users and stakeholders believe that efficient and timely management will speed up cargo handling and transportation, boosting the country’s import-export process. They also noted that improved port performance and skilled management could enhance foreign investor confidence, contributing positively to national economic growth.
