Journalists Housing Society,Ctg honours senior journos posthumously

Late senior journalists were posthumously honoured at a programme organised by the Journalists Housing Society Plot Owners’ Association in Chattogram.

The program, that included the inauguration of the newly formed executive committee, a posthumous award ceremony and the society’s annual sports, was held on December 27 at city’ Bayezid area.

Secretary General of Commonwealth Journalists Association Bangladesh,( CJA, B) and president of the society’s advisory council, Osman Gani Mansur attended the event as Chief Guest while senior journalist and adviser Shamsul Haque Haidari, adviser journalist Sirajul Karim Manik, adviser Moktar Ahmed, and adviser and freedom fighter Mofizul Islam were special guests.

Those honoured for their contribution to journalism and society include senior journalist and freedom fighter Nizam Uddin Ahmed; journalist and freedom fighter (late) Ahmed Azgari; journalists Nazir Ahmed, Aktar Un Nabi, Professor Mohammad Khaled, journalist Nur Islam Chowdhury, journalist Nurul Islam Chowdhury, Nurul Islam, Anwarul Alam, Mahbub Alam, Moslem Khan, Sudhir Dar, Alhaj Md A Sattar Chowdhury, Habibur Rahman Khan, ATM Modabber Chowdhury, A Z M Omar, Mohammad Belal, Mohammad Yusuf, Bimlendu Barua, Mukul Sharma Chowdhury and Abdul Hamid Chowdhury. Social workers MA Hashem and Mohammad Shahid Ullah were also posthumously honoured.

Presided over by Society President Sukhamoy Chakraborty and moderated by General Secretary Mohammad Naoshad Chowdhury, the event was addressed among others by senior Vice President journalist Sirajul Islam, Vice President Mohammad Abdul Mannan, Joint Secretary Irfan Reza Khan, Treasurer journalist Shatadal Barua, Assistant Treasurer Mohammad Tarek Imam, Office Secretary Mohammad Alamgir Chowdhury, Social Welfare Secretary Professor Hasanul Karim, Publicity and Publication Secretary journalist Syed Golam Nabi, Sports and Culture Secretary Md Hanif Khandakar, and executive members Hamidur Rahman and Mohammad Morshed Alam.

“Such initiatives reflect the journalism community’s respect and commitment to preserving professional values and history”, speakers said  adding that the legacy of the late senior journalists would continue to inspire future generations.
